About our company

The company TIRAD, s.r.o. is a 100% Czech capital company – a Czech manufacturer of custom mold bases, plates, frames and other parts for the injection molding (w/80 employees) offers its services in the following areas:

  • complete production of mold bases - very high accuracy CNC-machining of plates, frames and components for molds - clamping plate, bearing plate, cavity plate, manifold plate - for hot runner, (core) fixing plate, stripper plate, rack plate, (ejector) retainer plate, insulator plate, rails and other high quality plates (in position accuracy +-0.01mm/1000mm (+-0.00039 inches) or diameters and pockets +-0.005mm) according to your drawings. The precise pocket depth can be finished up to 350mm.
  • manifolds– hot runners production
  • special CNC-machining- very precise CNC-machining of bigger work pieces up to dimensions 10,000 x 3,500 mm or 20 tons a workpiece – for example for transportation or power energy sector - nuclear, steam and heat power energetics. We have long-time experience with machining of large-tonne castings and weldments - flanges, support stands, tables, machine frames/beds, exhaust casings or turbine casings, runner blade carriers, bearing pedestals, tube plates and other as well as corrosion-proof workpieces for example for nuclear program platform, where is a very high requirement for the precise machining - sealing surfaces for vapour-tight barrier or sealing faces metal to metal with the requested surface roughness Ra 0,4; holes in the position tolerance H7 or +-0,02mm for the complete workpiece dimension (e.g. 4x3 meters); inside diameters in H7-tolerance with a possible tool overhang up to 1000mm depth; boring operations up to diam 500mm and depth of 1800mm. Each half is machined separately at first, then both halfs assebled and machined in one production step together, before all for reasons of concentricity and the right position.

Our company has been certificated according to EN ISO 9001:2009, as well many customers realized their own certification and auditing, we keep the certifications for the workpiece machining in nuclear engineering.

All our machines for production are CNC-controlled.

Material:

We machine tool steels - alloyed: e.g. 1.2085 (X33CrS16), 1.2316 (X36CrMo17), RAMAX S (Uddeholm Sweden X36CrMo17), 1.2312 (40CrMnMoS8-6), 1.1730 (C45U; C45W) and many others. Besides we machine large workpieces – castings and weldments, which are supplied by our customers.

In most cases we buy the material for the mold bases by ourselves (at BÖHLER UDDEHOLM, BOGNER, EDW, HASCOand others) or you can supply us with your own material. Our tendency is the very high accurate cutting operation, that is why we prefer the delivery of 6-sides fine-milled blocks from suppliers or customers.

Drawings - formats:

We use electronic drawings and models:

  • 2,5D-drawings in formats: dwg; dxf
  • 3D-models in native formats of: PTC Pro-Engineer (2001, Wildfire 5.0), CATIA (v4, v5), Parasolid, Unigraphics or in common formats: STEP, IGES, VDA … but we are able to work with any formats as well.

A) division Mold Bases (85% of our income; 100% exported):

max.  max. dimension of one machined part:        2,300 x 1,600 x 1,000 mm (90 x 63 x 39 inches)
max. weight of one machined part:              12,000 kg
including gun deep drilling - with NC-dumper axis - up to 12 tons a workpiece, 1,500 mm depth of gun drilling from one side  

B) division Special CNC-machining (15% of our income):

max. dimension of one machined part:    10,000 x 3,500 mm (393 x 138 inches)
max. weight of one machined part:        20,000 kg

Standard production process:

at the Mold bases production (plates, hot runners, manifolds):

  • gun drilling
  • milling - roughing
  • surface grinding
  • milling - finishing
  • manually operations, calibration, verification
  • 3D-coordinate measuring on our 3D-coordinate measuring machines up to 4,000 kg (3,000 x 1,500 mm; 118 x 59 inches)
  • mold base assembly - possibly if requested by the customer

at the Special CNC-machining of the larger workpieces:

  • plane of separationmilling - with addition of 2 mm first; after that 0,5 (or 0,1) mm and finishing in the end, incl. stepped holes
  • lower guiding plains
  • end face of connecting flange
  • facing place to steam condenser
  • bearing pedestal guiding and recessing for it

Our production capacity:

We are able to complete approx. 250 plates for multi-cavity injection molds and 8 larger workpieces up to 20 tons per month (depending on their complexity)!
Generally we offer 103.000 machine hours a year to our customers.
We do not produce complete injection molds, we specialize in mold plates production only, but in a very high accuracy and further in a special CNC-milling of larger workpieces up to 20 tons a piece.

We cooperate with companies from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, USA, Canada, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, where more than 90% of our income has been generated.
